'YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DESTROY A LIFE'

Killing innocents is abhorrent. It is wrong. No matter what. In the aftermath of the London suicide bombings in July 2005, below is my letter to editor that was published in 'The National Post', one of Canada's leading news papers, on Thursday, July 14, 2005

'YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO DESTROY A LIFE'
Re: Raids, Arrests in UK., July 13
As a Muslim living in Canada, I'm shocked to learn that the recent bombings in London were suicide attacks. Shame on those who justify this as a reaction to what is being done to Muslims in the east.

As a practising Muslim, I feel great pain each time a bomb or bullet from the West kills an innocent Muslim. But each time this happens, my determination to prove that Islam is a religion of peace grows stronger.

Yes, it takes determination to strap up bombs and blow up someone who does not know about your faith and beliefs. But it takes far greater strength, patience and courage to remove misconceptions about your faith. Muslims who respect other beliefs and remain steadfast in their yearning for a peaceful life are truly the brave ones.

To the minuscule minority of cowards who don't care about the verse from Qur'an which states, "If any one killed an innocent or spread mischief in the land, it would be as if he killed all mankind," (Surah 5, Part 6: 32) I ask you to please not blow up your miserable life to kill others. You have no right to destroy a life which God has created.
